Borbay: "PAINTING PROCESS | KANYE WEST, EYES MORE RED THAN THE DEVIL IS"

Sara Nussbacher

There is no doubt that Jason Borbay is an artist. In fact, the complication with calling him "an artist" is the word "artist" has, in some ways, been diluted by reality shows where creating is timed and/or the goal is to win money. Of course, (insert contradiction here) artists are those that inspire and often the individuals who make us question common realities that have been lost in routine. So, either way - who am I to say who is or is not an "artist"...

Museums and auctions are increasingly using digital technology to feature art and I am curious if the power of what an artist creates can be conveyed through a digital interface.

Last night, my question was answered. Viewing Jason Borbay's "KANYE WEST, EYES MORE RED THAN THE DEVIL IS" on my laptop left me speechless.

I am not an art critic so I will leave the technical details to the artist. Lucky for all of us, he shared the process of how the final painting came to life. I am only posting a few of the stages, go to http://www.borbay.com/2011/01/25/painting-process-kanye-west-eyes-more-red-than-the-devil-is/view the complete process to see the rest - it is amazing.

Who is KANYE WEST? Well ... an artist.

“With so much of everything, how do we leave with nothing”; Kanye is complete, replete with color and conversation. - Jason Borbay.

To complete the series, the first is Jay-Z, Borbay notes that his next subject is the "man of many names representing the White Party"

Special thanks to Craig Elimeliah (@CraigElimeliah) who posted the tweet:
"This should be the cover of Kanye West's new album" I couldn't agree more.
